Taping

KINESIOLOGY TAPING

The purpose of taping an involved area of pain is to provide mechanical decompression and neurosensory input which helps mitigate pain. The decompression provided by the tape helps relieve pressure on free nerve endings and allow for better circulation to and from the involved area. Neurosensory input is feedback from sensory receptors that are stimulated by the tape on the skin which helps counter the constant output of pain from the brain. The tape is designed to stay on for 3 to 5 days and will stay on after showers. Be sure to let your therapist know if you have any allergies to adhesives or bandages.
